Get a better CPU. Get the 4690k

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

That might be cutting it a little , especially overclocking , and with high end hardware you might want overhead. HX1000i would be ideal @IKG_Pureeto

Thanks, because the normal power load of the 290x is roughly 300 watts, im not sure if 850, or 1000 watts would sustain an entire system with two power eating monsters...

1000watts will be more than enough!

could probably go with 850w, but i would not go lower than that.

Really? 850 watts? even under heavy load? including the entire system?

2x 300watt for gpu's is 600 watts +100 watt for the cpu is 700 and you don't want your psu to run at max capacity when onder load because of the efficiency curve

Two R9-290Xs including the rest of the system will pull under 1000W for sure.

Two R9-290X : 675W.

i've never said it will pull more than 1000 watts xD

you also need to include fans, harddrives, usb devices, those things can add up fast and if he's planning to overclock you get reach the 750 watts with no problems and as i said, you don't want to have a 750 watt psu if you can pull 750 watts that's why i recommend a 850 watt psu

Review from Toms's Hardware. TWO R9-295X2 (4 GPUs in total) on a 1000W PSU.

But yes, I agree with you, 850W would be the ideal rating.

Hawaii pulled close, and in some cases over, to 400W - both in synthetic and gaming loads - on the Anandtech review. It'll be slightly different with XF but not too far off if you push your limits. 850W is skimming the surface to me; I've only recommended/debated 1000W+ 80+ Gold power supplies or better when 2x 290X were involved.

Edit: I wanted to mention the 295X2 but this guy already did:

Way surprising that they didn't blow their shit up, but like they said it's all about what you're using. And 290X crossfired aren't quite the same as a 295X2. Still, great post. I just know that nuclear meltdown in an expensive rig can be that much closer (too close for me) when you start tossing these fuckers into multiple PCI-E slots.

I have an r9 280x and an i5 non-k 2500 at 3.8ghz, system draws less than 400 watts simultaniously running furmark and prime95. Yes I understand that these are potentially damaging stress tests. I ran them for 30 seconds.
