The Bios is not stored on the hard drive' date=' it is stored on a chip on the motherboard. So you don't really have anything to worry about. Just remember to reformat the hard drive and you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows.[/quote']

I haven't really messed with moving the OS HDD much, but shouldn't it work fine without doing all of that, such as an ASrock Z77 to an Asus Z77?

Lot of boards use very different chipsets, which will cause Windows to die on boot up. Similar boards, say with very similar intel chipset, may boot, but you probably still get a lot of errors. And need to rip out all the old drivers and re-install new ones for the new board. Something like Acronis with Universal Restore can help, but not always.

Easiest just to reinstall - just remember to backup your data first. :)
