I installed a new Seagate 2tb hdd yesterday and it hasn't been stable since.

Formatted the new disk as NTFS for use on Win8.1

I am currently running a i5 4690k OCed to 4.00ghz, Win7 on 240gig SDD and a separate raid0 for win8.1. for professional use.  I troubledshooted all drives, including a disk fragmentation check and all seem to be running fine, so a faulty disk is out of the question. I even ran a stress test on the CPU to make sure it was stable.

I'm thinking it maybe a low power-supply? I'm running a 850wat XFX with an un-overclocked 780gtx.  with 5 storage drives

any thoughts guys?

OC, that's probably your issue, it's possible the OC causes corruption during setup and wrecks the OS before it's completely installed.

If your ram is also overclocked, turn that back to stock too. Maybe you can get it back to OC settings and be perfectly stable after setup but run it for stock now until you have figured out what's the issue.

edit: run HDTune and do a health check (i thnk it's called that, it's the option with the green blocks that takes hours) It's possible your hdd is damaged.

@samcool55. I really doubt the OC is causing any sort of corruption and destroying the OS during the install process. However, have you stressed your CPU after overclocking it? And for how long?

@samcool55. I haven't overcloked my ram, checking out the HDtune

@Godlygamer23. I stress tested for 3 hours on different programs after the initial overclock and it seemed fine so  I left it. However, after installing the new HDD I only ran a quick 10 min stress test and it seemed fine, however, after the test had finished it crashed again...
