980 vs 970

Go to solution Solved by Wherestheanykey,

I personally would go the single gtx 980 i had sli and got over the driver crashes and all the other sli issues so just got myself a Asus 980 Strix and loving it but each to their own.

two 970s, and sell them when the next high-end GPU comes out (980ti or maybe 1080 or whatever)

Yea, I've got a pair of 980's right now that I'm trying to sell to replace with a pair of Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NH5T1MS cards. The price to performance ratio is so much better with the 970's and really all I wanted my 980's for was some benchmarking.

If anyone is interested hit me up. One has an 82% ASIC. ;)

I agree with the single card route.  Its just less headaches.  Theyve gotten a ton better lately and you dont have near as many headaches as before but I still would rather have a screaming fast single card handling graphics duties if possible.  If youre gaming at 1920x1080 then a single GTX 980 would shred anything out right now at max settings and should for a good while to come unless youre at 120Hz and needing to get as high a frame rate as possible.  Im running a 3 year old GTX 670 that is still handling everything pretty well.

Thanks you guys, I think I will go the single 980 route then.
