Can't you get a fx6300? it's like 30$ more, and you have way better future in terms of upgrading, than getting that one that's fm2.

But i don't think it'll bottleneck.

If you're doing just Gaming you could get the Intel G3258 I would prefer that over a FX chip in gaming

Whats your overall budget for the build?  Can you fit a Pentium or i3 into it?  Will give you much better performance and an upgrade path.

wow! 2001 score for single-threaded at 4.6ghz on the 860K...i'm impressed...way to go AMD...this must defenetly play any modern game quite well.

these little ones have a respectable IPC, defenetly...at least they are improving performance.

EDIT: Just made a quick test my i7-4770K at 4.3ghz scores only 2741 points in single-threaded load...so my IPC is only like 36% better compared to these sub 100$ CPU...it's great!

@Faa what do you think of that man?...ipc went up a fair bit on AMD's side huh?

Kaveri added 10% I think, this is again a new architecture or? It's a massive improvement though.

Anyways AMD should drop that CMT architecture, when you pump a 2nd thread in the same module the 1st thread is running, the singlethreaded performance drops. Afaik a 2500K gets like 1.50 in C11.5 and scales lineairly in multi to 6.0 but a 8350 does 1.07 and sits at 6.9 orsomething in multi rather than sitting at 8.45 orsomething.

all i can say is that my 4.6ghz FX was not getting anywhere near that 2000 single-thread score the 860k got...it's a big improvement...i don't know how that translate to gaming, the CPU is still lacking L3 cache...is it better at gaming than say an FX-4300 for example? i don't know...
