hi zero, you should use a Z 97 board for the max of your cpu because its a K version, so you can over clock your cpu a little.

case its your prefrens so you must decide, but my favorite is corsair graphite 230t for the color.

and cooling i recommend h110 if you have the money.

good luck piking parts

Hey zerohavoc318,

Since this is mostly a gaming rig, you would do just fine with a i5, 8GB of memory and a regular storage drive. More important things when it comes to gaming are the GPU, preferably SSD (if you'd like to decrease your loading times) and peripherals. Here are my two cents on your parts:

CPU: since you are getting a k-version of the 4670, I'm guessing you would like to overclock it, even though you would do just fine at stock clock speed during gaming. You would also need a custom CPU Cooler and a Z-type mother board.

GPU: I'll leave the guys here judge which one is better, but IMHO with that budget, you could even go for GTX 970 or R9 290X class GPU as this should be your main concern.

PSU: 850W are way too much overkill for this system even if you decide to OC the CPU and get a AMD GPU. A good 600W gold-certified PSU would be perfect as it would be enough, give you space for future upgrades and allow you to overclock your parts if you decide to.

RAM: Same as the GPU, I'll let someone else with more experience give you some advice. Gaming needs only 8GB so I'd say 2x4GB would be ideal and the motherboard that you'd be using won't support quad channel memory so 4x4GB would be a waste (unless you need 16GB, then you should get 2x8GB).

HDD: WD Black would be the better choice between these two drives at it is designed specifically for gaming, durability and fast performance. Even though games rely on storage only for loading times (FPS and Graphics act independent from the storage), if the HDD is too slow, you might experience lagging because the game could not load it's texture files in time for the screen to load.

SSD: I would say, any 128GB+ SSD would do the job for you with the proper care (TRIM, enough free space for caching, etc.)

MOBO: You'd want a Z87 or Z97 motherboard in order to overclock that CPU with a LGA1150 socket.

Casing and CPU Cooler are up to your choice entirely :)

Hope this helps,

Captain_WD.

Here is a rig I think will be the bomb...but not literally

I have kept the CPu, but upgraded the motherboard and ram for 2133 MegaHertz speed and SLI (duel ghraphics cards) for future upgrades.

Everything is overclockable in this build and I have included an SSD for faster speeds that can be remove if you want to save the money.

The case is a very functional one with nice looks, size and user friendly-ness, the case has plenty of room for further upgrades.

I have gone with a GTX 970 for the graphics card, this card is a beast and will run almost anything in Ultra at 40-60 frames minimum.

The power supply is a bit overkill, but allows for further PC upgrades later.

I hope this helps
