So I posted a few builds before, but things came up and I had to postpone getting it all setup. Worked in my favor since the GTX 980s are in stock again. Mostly, I would like some input on whether investing in two 980s is worth it to push into 4k or would it be better to settle on two 970s (or three). I also need mouse and keyboard recommendations. Any further advice on parts would be much appreciated.

The 980 SLI is about a 10% improvement over the 970 SLI. Whether or not that's worth the increase in price to you or not, is up to you.

It should be noted that the 295x2 often beats them both and comes in at a lower price than the 2 980's.

I wondered about that. I was originally considering a 295x2, though I've heard both sides.

How strapped are you for time? Do you have a build you use now, and this is replacing it?
Might be worth holding off and seeing when AMD's next card is ready. I imagine they'll do some announcement sometime in the next few months.

Preferably I'd prefer to get this before holidays. This is substantially upgrading my laptop, which cannot do much at all.
