Updating my computer, need advice.

Some of you may have seen me posting about seeking advice for a new computer build. I have decided to postpone it, and wait for the Skylake processors, and instead do a few upgrades for my current PC as it works just fine.

 

Here are my current PC specs & plan:

-SSD: None (Action: Purchase 256GB SSD, need recommendations)

-HDD: 2TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (Action: 4+ years old, needs replacing, need at least a 1TB HDD)

-Case: InWin Dragon Rider Full Tower (Action: Needs replacing, currently banking on Corsair 450D)

-OS: Windows 7 Professional (Action: Doing clean system wipe and going W8.1)

-Ethernet port on mobo doesn't work anymore, have a PCI-E Ethernet card arriving tomorrow.

 

I need a new case, I thought I'd post a picture for kicks, it's rather hilarious atm. I replaced my liquid cooling system recently and now I have a giant ass hole in the front of my case, and nothing to fill it with. I am planning on a 256GB SSD for OS and programs and a 1TB (maybe 2) for everything else. If it matters, I'm going to be using Shadowplay or other software to record gaming files, not sure it needs to be mentioned but it will be writing video files as I play games. There is also a mini flat head screw driver in my Masscool HDD fan. Lol, that masscool fan is the biggest piece of **** ever. One fan always gets busted, I had 2 replacements under warranty and finally got tired of dealing with it, so I stuck a freaking screw driver in one of the fans to stop it from making noise. I guess on the new cases they have HDD cages so it will be cooled by the intake fans. Going to order the parts tonight, so any recommendations on the case, storage options, or anything else will be appreciated. Thanks.

True, I was actually hoping to maybe get something a bit smaller, that's why I was looking at the 450d. The window on the 760T is nice though.

I'd go with an MX100. Probably the best bang for the buck SSD you can get.

The Neutron GTX, 840 EVO, Hyper X 3k are all great choices as well. It's hard to really go wrong these days. Personally I'd go with the MX100 as it gives you at least an extra 6gb of space.

Cases are super personal things so I won't even bother mentioning anything there, as you seem to know which one you want.

Ah, yeah it looks like it's only the M500 drives that are on sale. They're a fair bit slower than the MX100 drives, and honestly I wouldn't get them at only a 15% reduction in price.

The M550. But to be honest the speeds are so close to the MX100 that it won't even be noticed in anything but benchmarks. They're neck and neck.

They both destroy the M500.
