I'm going to get a 4690, non K. Is the default cooler ok for gaming? My AMD processor gets really hot (~78 degrees Celsius) with the default. Should I get a new cooler, or can I stay with the default for a while, then switch, or never?

You'll be fine with a stock cooler, no need for an aftermarket cooler on a locked CPU.

Also, will this processor max out BF4 at 1080 with a 270X? If not, will it run high with 60+fps?

Not sure, don't have personal experience with it.

The CPU will not bottleneck but the GPU will. You probably will only be able to play on medium-high, not ultra, if you want 60fps.

The 4690 stock cooler will be enough to prevent your CPU from overheating, just make sure your case has decent airflow.

Thanks, anything is better than my 360 :P Yeah, I've got a positive airflow strategy, with intakes 2 in the front, 2 in the bottom, 2 exhausts at the top, and one in the rear. Will that be good?

Thanks for all your help! One last question though, and I may be lazy for not googling this, but will this run Watch Dogs at 1080 at Med-High Settings with AA?

It might, I havent seen many watchdogs benchmarks with a 270x, but you will probably be fine at medium to high settings.

Using AA might drop your fps down quite a bit depending on what level you set the AA at.

I use the i5 4460 and the 270x and the only issue I had was that I was using 4GB of system memory so I got a lot of stuttering and frame drops. Aside from that I obviously had to turn down the settings a little to get a constant 60FPS, but other than that they work well together. It is very unlikely with most gaming systems that you will be heavily limited by a CPU unless you are using a REALLY old one (messed around with a core 2 duo 2.4GHz and that really was a bottleneck even to the 270x) Your limiting factor is definitely the GPU but that is not to say that it is obsolete and in need of replacement. If you were to turn off AA for example you would see a reasonable performance boost, but if you want to crank up all the details all they way, you will need an upgrade.

While the 270x is a decent card, and you should be able to run the game at med-high settings, I would recommend taking some of the money from the CPU and getting a lower tier i5 to add more money to the GPU if (kind of only if) you can then make the upgrade to a 280, 280x or 970 as you will see more of a benefit from more GPU horsepower than CPU horepower.
