Both are 256gb, $0.43 per gig, however the sandisk uses asynchronous instead of the Adata one using synchronous. does this part really matter?

The sandisk will perform a little better but a-data have a better controller made for a longer lifespan

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.
