A decent 500w is already more than enough: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10500kr

Yes but Like I stated my maximum price for a PSU is $50. I also don't need modular. Thx for the suggestion though. I could get one when I start upgrading parts

Honestly your system will not use much wattage at all. It's a better idea if you can shell out a bit more and get a higher tier power supply then what's being suggested here, just for quality and reliability's sake. Something like a Rosewill Capstone, Antec, or Seasonic PSU.

How much do you think I will need. I know I will at least have to have a 6pin PCI-e and a 6+2pin PCI-e.

If it's a tier 1 PSU you can go as low as a Seasonic G 360W. However for some headroom or something that's not as good, 450W.

I'd suggest against getting the G3258 though, even for gaming it's starting to become lacking, as new AAA titles that are coming out are starting to get their shit together and moving past using only 2 cores.

If you are against them, do you think using an Athlon x4 860K (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-ad860kxbjabox) would be good for my build?

Yes, an 860K would be a better choice. The motherboard thing with those is quite shady though. Many FM2+ boards being sold have had issues being compatible with 860Ks since they ship with older BIOS preloaded then what is needed for the 860K, so best to get an Asus board with USB BIOS Flashback.

Like one of these boards: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-a78ma

afaik the cheapest board with USB BIOS Flashback is this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-a88xpro

If you're not huge on overclocking, you can get a 750K/760K and cheaper boards without USB BIOS Flashback can be used without taking a gamble of whether the CPU will be compatible or not.

Ya I think I may use an Athlon x4 760k with a different board.

Watch this as the Athlon beats the G3258 at literally nothing.... i was shocked too, but it appears that the Pentium is the way to go.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Yes for some current gen games this processor is great with the use use of one core but later on new games like GTA V and Far Cry 4 will need more cores. And I will need more cores because I multitask a lot.

Modern games performed better on the Pentium. EVERY single one performed better. It even beat the Athlon 860k when not OCd.

Yes I understand that with today's games like BF4, Crisis 3 and Bioshock Infinite, the pentium does run nicely with them, but by the time I build my computer some new games will require faster speeds and more cores.

Actually now that I think of it you may be right. With the Athlon upgrading options are very limited because of FM2+. I would have the capability to go get an i7 later on. I will think upon this

Make sure to watch the Austin Evans video that compares the two because the ol' "Games will use more cores soon" thing is, so far as I can tell, hogwash!
