Hi guys,

Yesterday this guy came over and gave me a single 4GB stick for free, my PC was running perfect at the time with 6GB (2x2 and 2x1) but I thought why not take out those 2x1 and put in 1x4 so I can have a total of 8GB? Well I did and this is the result:

Installed a total of 8GB RAM (2x2GB and 1x4GB), but when I look in my BIOS it recognizes only 2GB... And when I boot up Windows (W10 B9879) it says 'Installed memory (RAM): 8GB (1.96GB Usable)'

I've done the 'msconfig method' and tried to find the 'memory remapping feature', but couldn't find it.

Here's a screenshot of my resmon (warning! Big Picture!):

I hope someone can help me... and explain to me why now only 2GB is usable and not 4...

- Question

It says that 6GB is hardware reserved...what does that mean?

EDIT: Does all the RAM have the same CAS timing? You can use CPU-Z if you don't know. Timimgs must match on RAM for them to work together. Also, try placing the 4GB stick in the other empty DIMM slot

Will check the latency and change slots.
