trying to configure a cheap gaming pc build for a friend.

 

this is what i have so far, anything you would change/anyway to make it cheaper

Hmmm i would go for a pentium instead of an i3. Just a personal preference (because you can OC it) and maybe get an r9 280(x) with the lower price

I would go for a Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P and an FX-6300 if it's cheaper, and then try to get a better graphics card.

and the i3 has hyperthreading,

Or you could go the amd cpu path and get the fx6300

I would go with a Pentium or an Athlon X4, also the R9 270 is cheaper than R9 270X, you don't need a Gold certified PSU bronze is enough unless electricity is expensive in your area, and 1 8GB stick would be good you don't need dual channel memory sometimes it cheaper.  R9 270
