It's obvious that socket 2011 would be the premium choice, but me personally, I can not get over how all the Z87 Motherboards look from all the companies, they are pure sex on a PCB :)

I'm wondering because I am planning on upgrading soon and was wondering what the community prefers. I wouldn't base my whole opinion off of it but its nice to know what people prefer and why.

Edit: Are you talking about using the cpu for? Sorry, I would be using it for gaming and some photo editing.

For gaming and Photo editing, the Z87 Platform would be perfect for that :) preferably the 4670k as Hyperthreading really does not give a boost in performance when gaming. It's not worth the extra $100 price tag for the 4770k if building a gaming rig.

So for gaming is haswell good enough? What advantages does haswell have over 2011 because you can get a 3820 for around $200

Sexy mobos, more efficient, newer I guess

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

if you have the money to go for 3970X or something go for 2011 but if you are putting 3820 vs 4770k go for haswell

Well, my claims were confirmed i guess. Socket 2011 will still be the high end socket. Ivy Bridge - E on the way though, not haswell yet.

Yah haswell is kinda meh. The z87 boards are so good and I wish that they would just kinda bring those board features to z77 then  I would be really happy.
