Im changing my psu because sometimes my computer is dying by itself sometimes it happens around twice a month. I really think its because of my PSU(TT 650w) cant keep up with my GPU(shappire dual-x R9 280x) it says it needs 750w to power. I really need to change it but im not sure what to get since im dont know enough things about PSU.

Thinking of getting:

Corsair RM series RM850 80+ Gold fully modular PSU

Any recommendations?

Thank you :)

The psu recommendation on the graphics cards' website are highly inflated in case you're using a crap psu. The 280x easily runs off of a decent 550w. Your current psu is more than enough.

If your psu is causing the issue, it wouldn't be because it wasn't big enough.

Please, with an R9 280x your entire system uses only 350W under load so it's definitely not your PSU

Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

Any suggestions on how to do that?

well i would run prime95 + furmark at the same time. this is way more load than a game can do . so if the pc shuts down run the tests individually and see which cause the problem. if nothing happens run memtest

I ran furmark as furmark and prime95 at the same time about 30mins computer didint crash or shut down. Then i ran furmark for 1hr35mins and nothing happened it was totally stable. My rig seems to be doing pretty well :/ I dont know whats the main cause of this pc just dying out on occasions. Thanks for the help tho :)

I think it could be the power suppily. I like both corsair and if you can pay the price some of the best are made by seasonic.

Me too i really think its my psu sometimes its failing. when my computer dies out it will take me around 3-5mins before i switch on my PSU or my computer wont boot up
