Best headphones between $300 and $400!

jfing14

Hello!

I am looking at getting a decent pair of headphones but I don't know which. I will use the mainly for music and a little gaming (even though gaming really doesn't mean anything when it comes to the soundstage and quality etc) but also as I'm a game dev so I kinda want accurate sound as well as just good sounding headphones. I generally lean gowards closed back, but I will be using them for prolonged periods of time and they will become my day to day headset (so I want to make sure I get something good! And comfortable!) preferably somewhat good looking but that is really not a big factor, just quality. I've had my eye on the Master & Dynamics, not only for their looks which seems to be the first thing that people assume they are for but also because they have really good build quality and apparently sound quite nice. Then again there are the HD650's which everyone raves on about and I added the HD8 DJ's because they are in a similar pricing Category. Suggestions welcomed and appreciated as I'm sure I havent seen all te decent ones within this price range.

Get the HD 600 and a proper amp/DAC combo, like the O2/ODAC.

Those mh40's look amazingly stylish :o

Probably the Hd650 if you can afford the amp to power them.

Also, what differentiates the open backs and closed backs when it comes o making an audible difference. I've only ever had closed back headsets

On an open headphone the sound stage is much bigger, they feel more like you are listening to speakers rather than earbuds to be extreme

Hd650 gets my vote if you like a warmer sound.

HD600/dt880 if you want a bit more neutral.

Pair either of those with the amp of your choice.
