21:9 or 144Hz

iHacker3000

Hey guys I want to get my self a new monitor.

I am thinking about whether to get the LG 34um65-p (21:9) or the Acer Predator XB270HAbprz  (G-Sync 144Hz 3D). Both of them cost about the same here in Germany, so price is not an argument :D

I mainly want to work AND game on my rig.

Which one should I buy.

The specs are listed in my signature.

Thanks in advance

I don't see anything in your signature - but either way:

It's down to preference - but I personally prefer widescreen-capabilities over higher framerate.

Ooh, tough one. Personally I'd go for the LG because I don't really game but if I did it more often I'd go for the Acer. I imagine quite a few games would freak out because of the weird aspect ratio.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

21:9 all day. Higher resolution is nice and all but 21:9 is an experience changer. And it's for the better. I could take screen shot comparisons of some games if you would like. I have pretty much everything from last year and before. High refresh rates are great, extra resolution is great but if you have a small monitor you can get the kind of resolution fidelity of a large 4k display. My 25" 2560x1080p monitor has a higher ppi than a 27" 1440p display. I will never be able to go back to 16:9 gaming now.

I wouldn't get a 1080p 21:9, only 1440p would appeal to me.

I'd also be put off by the prospect of having to visit wsgf just to play a loaf of my games at this aspect ratio.

He is talking about a 1440p monitor...

Go 21:9!

No, they're both 1080p

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/acer-xb270habprz-27-inch-gaming-monitor-has-g-sync.html and there you go. it's 1080p.

people that said 1440 over 21.9 need to read. and do what I said. what about 1440p

Hey guys I want to get my self a new monitor.

Thanks in advance

Chances are you're not going to hit 140fps too often. 120hz is fine enough, so I think the LG is a great option. (Unless you really want the 3D)

I'm currently on a 144Hz monitor but saving up for a 34" 21:9 one. Enough said. :D

I'll keep them both though.
