Hey guys,

i am about to order the parts for my new PC and the only question left is: which GTX 970 shall I take? Now I am at the final battle between: Asus Gtx970 Strix and Msi Gtx970 Gaming 4G. Actually, the only thing stopping me to commit myself to the MSI is: It doesent have a backplate, and I am really afraid of seeing it sag. But then I saw this picture: http://www.hardwareluxx.de/images/stories/galleries/reviews/2014/msi-gtx970-gaming/klein/msi_gtx970_gaming_test-12.JPG

And now I am wondering: Is this metal thing on the PCB enough to make it sturdy? Anyone here who had one in his hands?

I remember reading on Overclockers. net (not sure), that MSI and STRIX are pretty similar.

Only that Strix is quieter, but has less OC'ing potential (something to do with the number of pins, can't remember), and that TwinFrozr V is a little bit noisier, but has a little big more OC'in potential (also something to do with the pins)...

The conclusions was that G1 Gaming is/was the best (out of those three) :D

GPU sagging takes a really long time, and doesn't usually affect performance.  The MSI card is great, but I'd personally go with the Strix, as it won't even spin up the fans until it hits 67 degrees.

This.

The only thing I can add to this is that pretty much any 970 will be killer, and, some of them are considerably cheaper than others. If it were me I would just choose whatever one is the cheapest and the one that I like the looks of the best.

i5 2500k+Noctua NH-D14 - 8GB HyperX Blu - 240GB PNY XLR8 - Sapphire Reference 7970 - P8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3 - OCZ ZX 850W

I am actually kinda afraid of the 67 degrees in idle... I mean, the GPU will basically always have this temp, cant believe this is good. And i often read things like: the G1 being a little noisy and the MSI actually beeing the most quiet?

67 degrees is not the idle temp.  I just said that the Strix was capable of not having to turn on fans until it hits 67 degrees.  For example, if you were to run League of Legends maxed out, the fans would not spin.

I just purchased the gigabyte G1 970 last night.

I was debating between the MSI one and this but eventually caved into the looks and the performance of G1.

Im not a noice freak when it comes to rigs and care more about cooling and performance and G1 offers just that apparently!

I like the MSI blower card. It uses the titan cooler so you get VERY good cooling, with all the perks of a blower card.
