Need a Powerful Gaming PC < $1000 USD

Budget and Location:

    The budget is $1,000 USD.

Aim:

The system will be used for gaming, video editing, and rendering.

Monitors:

I plan on using one monitor. I don't have a modern monitor, so I'll need a new monitor included in the parts list.

Peripherals:

A new gaming keyboard that is comfortable to use and an optical drive to burn discs.

Upgrading:

I've needed a more powerful computer for a long time to do gaming.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please reply with a link to the PC parts list for the entire computer. I'm new to building computers. Any tips or help in building the computer would be appreciated. I want the best gaming computer possible under $1,000 USD. I'd also like a full run down on each part and why it will work best. Thank you.

Two things you definitely should go for: I5 4690K or I7 4790K (depending on how much is left over in budget), and GTX 970.

I think the I7 would be a bit too much. Thanks though!

If you can squeeze it in then get it, as it will greatly help with rendering times.

  • I think you can buy the non unlocked CPU version of that CPU, saves you a couple bucks :P
  • I would add a cheap but good SSD like a kingston 240Gb. And a 2Tb Toshiba/WD sata drive.
  • RAM 8Gb Corsair or Hyper X modules no less than 1600MHz
  • For a Motherboard it is more a personal choice. If you think you'll add more graphics cards, or use a lot of PCI components then you need a fancy bigger one, if not you could go with a small ATX likethe Gryphon Z97 from Asus.
  • Keyboard, hmmm. There are plenty, I like the new Corsair Gaming ones but are kinda expensive, you could go for a Logitech but those are membrane keyboards (if you have any issue with that).
  • And for a monitor, well I know nothing about monitors, only thing I recomend is an ISP pannel because the color depth of those monitors are amazing, and I think you need that for your renders.

Sorry I can't give you prices because I don't live in the US but I think that's affordable with 1000USD (I'm not pretty sure about the ISP pannel)

Thanks. This parts list will work, but won't I need more RAM?

Just add another stick, or three, when you have the money, that's why i went with 1 stick 8Gb   :D

Also, if you can, go with this, it goes a wee bit over your budget :)

I never used them, but i read ONE good review... :)

Thank you! This makes sense. I'm just wondering just how beneficial would having 16GB of RAM be? Also, what is onboard ethernet?

Thank you! This makes sense. I'm just wondering just how beneficial would having 16GB of RAM be? Could I have an example maybe?

I'd love to explain it to you, but my brain is starting to shut down... It's 2Am here, and i'm tired like a log...

Try our good friend, Google :D https://www.google.rs/search?q=is+more+ram+beneficial+for+rendering&oq=is+more+ram+beneficial+for+rendering&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i64.5947j0j7&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#q=why+is+more+ram+better+for+rendering

To shorten it, if you're rendering a scene with lots and lots of detail, more ram is better, if you don't have enough of it, then your computer will start using parts of your HDD/SSD for memory.... That's the gist of it...

Goodnight :)
