decent laptop for $550?

my sis wants to get a new laptop however i got no idea which one to get, though the things she does is not demanding as i was thinking to get a laptop with an i3 or lower as she only

surf the web

watches movies/TV series

and what ever librarians do on PC

 

The question is which brand as the only one that are good i know on desktops are asus and msi. what about the other brands like HP,dell, acer, toshiba etc. I know their OEM desktop sucks but what about their laptop counterparts.

Don't get cheap ASUS laptops, they have a habit of being capable of frying an egg.

Check out the HP Stream11/13 series. These have been mentioned in the WAN show, looks too good to miss out on.
