A Corsair H105 would be great.

But a Hyper 212 would also work.

What budget/system are we working with?

Specs are;

Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus case

Crosshair V Formula - z

AMD FX 8350 OC'd to 4.6 GHZ

16GB Crucial 1600mhz

Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x

Samsung EVO 840 SSD

750w high end power supply

Budget, ideally around £50 GBP (80 USD)??

Current cooler is an Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 which retails for about £35 - so looking for a big improvement on the performance of this.

A Corsair H105 would be great.

But a Hyper 212 would also work.

What budget/system are we working with?

Massive price difference between these 2....

Would I really see a difference in performance with the Hyper 121 evo against my Arctic Freezer? The price point is excellent for the Hyper 212 - anyone know if it would fit in my case?

It should make a big difference. Your current cooler only moves about 36 CFM of air. The Hyper 212 EVO moves 82 CFM of air, and is about the same size.

Not sure if it would make 11c difference, but i guess it will bring it down back into the 50's.

However, if you don't mind installing a liquid cooler, get a Cooler Master Seidon 120M

Laptop: Intel Core i5-4200H, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce 840M

Desktop: Intel Core i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 750GB HDD, GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I didn't see anyone recommend the H55.. Return it--It's not that much of an upgrade from your current cooler. A cooler like the Havik 140 is much better: http://www.amazon.co.uk/NZXT-HAVIK-140mm-Cooler-Dual/dp/B005869XYK

Yeah it was local and available so thought I'd give it a try. Shall take it back and try something else.

Tried the 212 Evo - no difference with this either! maybe 2c max, still hitting 59c/60c whilst gaming. Taking the EVO back and will now try the Havik 140.

If you keep buying mediocre liquid coolers they will not perofrm better than the 212 as it is a GOOD cooler.

If you want real gains, you need to lookat better air coolers or 240mm AIOs

I personally recommend an air cooler.

Something like a Phanteks tc12 costs $50 and will beat all 120mm/140mm liquid coolers.

If you can, Noctua NH-D15.

For budget, Hyper 212 EVO. I had it last year, and it performs great for around $30 (I think)

Just as a side note, the NH-D14 is SO FREAKING CHEAP right now on Amazon. It's a kick-ass CPU cooler and should be considered if you don't have high profile RAM modules and your case can accommodate it.
