HyperX Clouds Sound Better On Phone Than On PC

So my motherboard must really suck, because my new Clouds sound better on my HTC One M8 with Harmon/Kardon sound. My motherboard is the Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H. How can I solve this? I'd prefer not to buy a $200 amp for an $80 headset. Will a dedicated sound card help? Thanks guys.

This isn't a surprise. HTC M8 has quite high quality internal sound components, including an isolated DAC and headphone amp. A sound card with an internal amp may help a bit, but it won't be a mind blowing improvement,
