I don't understand the point of this. Like if you are uncomfortable with a gay guy using the same bathroom as you, use a damn stall. It's not that big of a deal. I've never felt uncomfortable being in the same bathroom as a gay guy. I don't even think about it. Letting guys into girls bathrooms without being able to question and stop them is just ridiculous. Guys should be in the guys restroom and girls in the girls. Sexuality should not matter at all.

Yes that's the entire point of it.

If someone doesn't feel safe around others because they have different genitals, I'd advise they seek therapy.

Well this law apparently covers showers and changing rooms as well so I would not be surprised if perfectly normal (as in, do not need therapeutic help) will feel unsafe or uncomfortable. I mean, imagine if you were an alone girl in the shower and all of a sudden 3 guys walk in, or even a single guy. Not sure about you but if someone of the opposite sex walked into the showers while I used it I would feel uncomfortable and/or threatened.

People feel very vulnerable while naked.

Call me a bigot if you want but I think we should separate the sexes in some situations. Changing rooms and showers is one of those situations. I don't think of it as discrimination.

For toilets I don't really care since it wouldn't be hard to make unisex toilets everywhere (just need to replace urinals with stalls).

And before someone asks, this law is not just about restrooms. It is about restrooms, shower rooms and other gender specific areas. The law is also based on good faith and if the person behaves, dresses and/or acts as the gender he/she claims to identify as. I generally dislike laws based on good faith and/or interpretations and other subjective stuff.

Because of those two reasons (includes more places than restrooms such as showers as well as being very subjective and based on good faith) I dislike this bill.

Well, the ordinance doesn't approve of such an event because they are still separating people by gender, but not necessarily by sex. So guys with penises aren't permitted to stroll right in to the ladies room, at least not without being questioned. If upon questioning the person you perceived as a guy, they inform you that they're a trans woman, as long as they fit some stereotypical outline of a female, they'd be allowed to enter. And that is where I have to be against this type of law; it's convoluted and vague and open to a probably biased interpretation. Hygiene shouldn't be this complicated; its increased sexualization is particularly bothersome. That's also why I suggest therapy for androphobia, gynophobia, transphobia, cisphobia, or even gymnophobia. I think there's been these sorts of irrational fears on both sides that play into the discussion, but regrettably that's the status quo, and this law or whatever it is won't change that.
