So I was running Furmark to check my OC stability and the temp got up to 90C before I shut it down. It was getting 40FPS, when it normally gets 28 or so. So I tested without the OC and got the same performance and temps. Normally my GPU stays around 60C with only 40% fan speed, even in Furmark. So I tested in Unigine Heaven and with OC I got 50FPS average, with 65C temps, and only 40% fan speed. So what's up with Furmark? I also OC'd my CPU to 4.5GHz and +0.108V, but I don't think that's what's causing the issues. I have a Gigabyte Windforce R9 280, and a A10-7850K. The rest of my specs are in my signature. Thanks guys.

That's because your card is throttling with Powerplay. Check the clocks in MSI Afterburner or anything that gives you real-time stats and you'll probably see them drop to about 700ish....

Nope, they were staying at 1150MHz the entire time.

Is there something wrong with Furmark? That's what I normally use. The temps have never been like that before.

What were you using to check that? Sometimes they just give you the initial clocks and do not update afterwards.

MSI Afterburner.

Wow, then you have a.... JESUS GPU! Check to see if it also multiplies bread and if it walks on water.

How about gaming? How does it behave then?

Haven't tried anything yet. I'll check it out tomorrow, about to go to bed now. I'll run Heaven and Prime overnight to make sure it's completely stable.

I know, I just put it back to stock because it was really unstable with any overclocks.

Need more info about your rigs. What temp go up to 90? What cooler are you using for A10 and GPU.

The problem seams like, you heat sink didn't properly attach to the CPU/or GPU, or maybe the thermal paste dry out.

The GPU. Furmark tests GPU stability. I'm using the Xigamatek Gaia CPU cooler. And I said I have the Gigabyte Windforce R9 280. This only happens in Furmark, so that can't be the issue.

A software can not fail your hardware.

Your overclock is bad. I don't know what software you are using for overclock. Looks like you are push or over volt GPU to much.

By the way, have you flash your GPU bios?

There hasn't been an update yet. Furmark pushes it way too hard, getting the temp too high, I've never seen it go above 67C on this fan curve, other than in Furmark.

Monitor your volt on OSD. Furmark can't push your GPU beyond the specification, unless you allow the card to push itself.

Voltage is locked on my GPU, so that won't help.

Maybe they aren't. Just check everything, sometime the hardware dose something weird on themselves.

Afterburner doesn't even show voltage. I checked "Show Voltage Monitoring" in the settings.
