Yesterday the Italian Bankruptcy Court decided that Bertone will be closed forever. It was a legendary factory with a long history of producing many beautiful and iconic cars.

They did more styling than building IIRC. They've designed cars for quite a lot of manufacturers including: Alfa, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lancia, Lamborghini and Merc Benz just to name a few.

until the late 60s they build the majority of their designs. After that, they continued to build cars but on a smaller scale and for less manufacturers. After Nuccio died in 97 it all went to shit

Brabus tunes Benz cars. Bertone designs cars from scratch! Also Bertone has been around for over 100 years, vs the mere 37 of Brabus.

Oh god no, not Bertone! I love their designs, especially the fiat X-19 (my dad owned one) and lancia stratos.

This is a real shame to the automotive industry, their designs and concepts were unbelievably good looking, beyond what most design houses could ever dream of making.

Well, every design is subject to taste. I too do not particularly like some of their designs. But when a company designs over 90 models, it's nearly impossible to adore all of them. However many features of their concept cars became popular design in cars created much later by other companies. So despite being extreme and sometimes "ugly" designs, they are still iconic and important in the automotive history.

They have my love and admiration for for designing the Stratos and my hatred for not giving the world another one before they died.
