New to water cooling

Hey guys, im new to water cooling and I would like some help. What size fittings and how many fittings do i need? Is copper or nickel better for a cpu block? Will the reservoir fit in the phanteks enthoo luxe or either in the phanteks enthoo primo?

Here are the parts that I am going to order:

CPU block: EK Supremacy EVO

http://www.performance-pcs.com/ek-supremacy-evo-cpu-water-block-original-csq-copper-plexi.html

Rad: XSPC RX360 or 480

480: http://www.performance-pcs.com/xspc-rx480-quad-fan-radiator-v3-black.html

360: http://www.performance-pcs.com/xspc-rx360-triple-fan-radiator-v3-black-18821.html

Pump: Swiftech mcp655 d5 pump with speed controller

http://www.performance-pcs.com/swiftech-mcp655-special-edition-12-vdc-d5-pump-with-speed-controller.html

Reservoir: Frozenq novacore extreme edition uv blue or xspc d5 photon 270 pump/reservoir combo(will not buy separate pump for this res)

Frozenq: http://www.performance-pcs.com/frozenq-novacore-extreme-limited-edition-uv-blue.html

XSPC: http://www.performance-pcs.com/d5-photon-270-reservoir-pump-combo.html

Tubing: Primoflex advanced LRT 10ft 3/8ID 1/2OD crystal clear

http://www.performance-pcs.com/primoflex-b-advanced-lrt-10ft-b-tubing-3-8in-id-x-1-2in-od-crystal-clear.html

Fittings: ?

P.S recommendations are welcome :D. According to the attachment, I will have something like this, but without gpu water cooling, front rad, and the case

That should work.

The size of the fittings depends on the size of the tubing, I'd suggest checking the input/output fitting sizes of your pump and going with that for the rest of the fittings and tubing. (Be sure all parts will work with that size of fitting and tubing)

Also I believe copper is better for a water block as it conducts heat better.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Nice parts, make sure you can fit a 64mm thick rad like that in the top of the Luxe. I know it fits in the Primo, not sure about the Luxe.

The size of the tubing of fittings has to be the same. You want at 3/8 ID or 1/2 ID for optimal flow rates, the OD is up to you. If you want thin tubing 3/8 ID 1/2 OD is fine, if you want thicker tubing 3/8 ID 5/8 OD or 1/2 ID 3/4 OD would be nice.

Nickel plated CPU block are just that, nickel plated. They still have copper underneath. Get the water blocks with nickel plating, they better protect against the visual signs of water corrosion.

A 270mm res + a pump/pump top that's usually 90mm<, so it'll fit if your case is taller than 330-360mm.

What fittings? Bitspower compression fittings, for cheaper you can buy Monsoon Free Center compression fittings in 6-packs.

General rule is two fittings per component (IN and OUT). Obviously pump/res combo's only need two, a separate res and pump needs four.

the clearance for the rad has 1mm of space on the luxe....... :/

and do most people prefer reservoir/pump combos over a separate reservoir and pump?

1mm, that sounds waaay off. I'm talking about the clearance from the top of the case to the 8-pin power on the motherboard / RAM slots.

Checked it for you, it's 65mm.

Edit: lol you probably meant there is only 1mm left. :P It's no biggie though, you don't need that thick of a rad to get good heat dissipation anyway.

You would be just fine with a 420mm Alphacool XT45 and good static pressure fans in push or pull.

Going with a pump/res combo or separate  pump and res is just that, a preference. In terms of performance there is no difference. So go with the one you want.

I prefer pump/res combo's like the EK 140 X-RES D5.

You want to make sure all your parts are copper and brass for best results regarding the coolant.

The reservoirs you chose maybe a bit tight in the Luxe, i would go for the Primo.

I would used the 420mm HW Black Ice Ultra Stealth and a 480mm GTX GEN2 radiator on the bottom.

Some nice 1/2ince monsoon or primochill compressions will look really nice.

A nice D5 will be great so i would just get the XSPC Photon 270.. Some Akasa Apaches for fans, they come in both 120mm and 140mm.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

thanks for this thread guys, i am planing a build around the luxe and was going to watercool but i think the H100i would be more to my budget and better on space.
