So, today I've devoted myself to overclock this old CPU of mine (i7 920) and these are the results so far:

All of these using Prime95 and RealTemp:

@4.00Ghz - Crash

@3.80Ghz - 80°C then crash

@3.70Ghz - 75°C

@3.66Ghz - 75°C

@3.50Ghz - 73°C

To be honest, I really wanted to go for 3.80Ghz (I'm sad) but seeing as it gets too hot, and unstable I rather not. I kinda want to cap it at 3.70Ghz since it seems stable so far but I don't know if 75°C is really a good temp to go for. I haven't even bothered below 3.50Ghz because I want to squeeze 1 to 0.90 Ghz out of this CPU (2.66Ghz default).

Any thoughts? Opinions? First time overclocking here :/

To be honest?The temps are fine but i7 is a strong enough cpu and is good enough the way it is.Better get it back to normal speeds so it will run cooler and make it's lifespan longer.

Beware of him that is slow to anger; for when it is long coming, it is the stronger when it comes, and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.
