Posted October 30, 2014 Hello ladies and gentlemen, I need a new pair of headphones and i can't decide what to get. The "Gaming" headphones out there just puts you of tracks and I'm not sure which ones i should get. So to keep it simple what I'm looking for are headphones/headset that will produce nice mids and highs and have punchy lows. I will be using the headphones mostly for gaming, but they will be also used for music and movies. The price I'm willing to spend is £100 but i wan't to keep it as low as possible. Read some reviews about the HyperX Clouds and they seem really nice, but then you have the vengeance 2100 that are wireless (nice benefit for me) and don't have the worst audio reproduction for a wireless headset. Hope you can give me your thoughts and insight on headphones overall. Thanks!

Please don't go for "gaming" headphones/headsets What you need to tell us first is if you will be using them outside your home. That will help determine whether or not you should get closed or open back headphones. Open back headphones are generally better for gaming due to a better soundstage, but it also means that all the sound from the headphones is leaking so everybody can hear what you are listening to (that's why they're not good for using outside). It also means that noise isolation is much worse since they are open as the name suggests. If you live in a noisy neighborhood or have noisy siblings, closed back all the way. Also will you be doing any competitive gaming such as CS? "Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire
 I just reread what i wrote and i wrote it wrong, what i mean't is that i don't want "gaming" headphones due to the fact that they are shitty headphones slammed with gaming stickers everywhere. I wanted to use them outside but i can sacrifice that for better gaming experience. Yes i will be playing competitive games like CS. The thing with open headphones is that i don't want to disturb other people in my household with the sound leaking from them at night. Can you suggest me something that is a bang for the buck. Posted October 30, 2014 Author ATH-M50s everytime. Or Sennheiser HD25's if you have the cash. i read about the ath-m50s and was pretty amazed by the reviews. They look slick and would suit me. Is there a huge difference with the ath-m40x and 50x (want to save as much money as possible)
 Is there a huge difference with the ath-m40x and 50x (want to save as much money as possible) Yes, there is a big difference. The M40X are more neutral (i like that) and the M50X are more agressive but with better resolution. Does it worth it to go for the M50X? For me yes. Are the M40X good headphones? Absolutely! Posted October 30, 2014 look my sig, they are semi open and go for cheap. they have velour pads, very comfy, good sound the bass is good, not very punchy since it has felt that dampens it, but can produce sub, the mids are a bit louder on the higher frequencies but shouldnt be too distracting in game, only in music if you are willing to spend 91 quid, Sony MDR V6 is very detailed, it has angled drives and it is closed
 Audiotechnica M40x is ok but it's not worth sacrificing the convenience of the headset for. The M50(x) is severely overrated. That's the thing i read about, and is the sole reason why it's hard to choose. The HyperX has way better reviews, but the m40x are really close, so i need to make a solid decision or get an idea for another headset/headphones. Will have to agree to this, but the mic is honestly not that bad compared to some other headsets. I would say it would depend on how much cheaper you can get the HyperX Clouds for compared to a m40(x)/m50(x). I honestly had more of a wow factor for the HyperX Clouds than I did for the m50s. The HyperX Clouds look amazing, are super comfortable, and have nice accessories for the price. They do have some piercing highs, but you could EQ that off.
