Overclocking question.

No because there are more contributing factors to performance than just frequency. Cores, cache, etc.. all affect performance.

If you had a processor that had 2x the speed, 2x the cache, 2x the cores, etc.. aka putting a second processor in, then you do get 2x performance.

Lets say CPU "X"'s base speed is at 1Ghz.

If Bob manages to crank his speed up to 2Ghz or double the base speed, would he get double the performance?

Also, is this the same for GPUs or RAM?

Just got curious.

No it doesn't scale like that.

you cant add more cache memory, and even OC it to my knowledge. so right there is a bottle neck in a sense.
