I want to upgrade my AMD 5770   to something newer. My resolution right now is a single 24" 1080p monitor, I want to upgrade to 1440 but wont happen for a while because of cash flow, so that really doesn't really matter for now. So my budget is about 400 euros and I live in Germany

I have been looking at the gtx 970 and was wondering what your guys opinion on the gtx 970 as a whole, who has the best aftermarket cooler out there with good cooling performance, what version from a given manufacturer is the best. I would like to play games at 60 fps at high or better setting or try downsampling but that could be tasking in a different way, no?

Recap - want to upgrade my gpu from an amd 5770 to something that will allow me to play new and up and coming games at high presets hopefully, ability to overclock well because I love overclocking and pushing the limits of my parts  :D

My pc = i7 4930K, Asus Rivbe, alphacool watercooling kit (link), corsair rm 750, and right now the 5770.

If I have left something out, which I'm pretty sure I have but can't think what it may be, obviously just tell me and I will answer to the best of my ability. Thanks in advance.

the gigabyte 970 is the one for you in my opinion. its an amazing card and you will be set for high-ultra 1440p for the years to come !

for 1080p the 760 should be fine, for 1440p the 970 is a great card.

the windforce cooler is probably the best.

i would go for evga though, their customer support is great.

keep in mind that you need a reference pcb if you want to watercool you gpu.

Really? I'm pretty sure there are still aftermarket pcb's that have blocks for them, maybe i'm wrong and it was just a fluck, can't remember the card I saw it for, sorry.

ok if wanta use your 400€ the best thing you can get is the 780ti. the asus cooler is more quiet but the gigabyte ghx edition has higher clock speeds so more performance:

http://geizhals.de/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-780-ti-windforce-3x-oc-gv-n78toc-3gd-a1031441.html

but the 970 needs way less power, produces less heat and is a way better overclocker. also you get more fps for your money because the 780ti is not that much better, especially on 1440p. if you want the cheapest card with a good cooler on it go for the evga acx 2.0 it has the lowest clockspeed. if you want little better performance and dont care about silence go for the standard gigabyte (gaming g1 doesnt make sence from money perspective). if i would be you i would go for the asus strix; it has the same performance as the gigabyte but is more silent, also it has the feature that the fans only spin if the temperature goes over 60C, so in idle its completely silent. the best performer is the evga ftw acx 2.0, it simply has the highest clock speed:

btw i wouldnt watercool your cpu and gpu with a single 240mm radiator.

kinda unnecessary to speek english here but we wanna be polite :D

As far as I can tell if you use a Heatkiller 760 on the ZOTAC 970 you won't have a problem with cooling since they sizes seem to be identical, and linus already did a review on the ZOTAC 970's.

Please use http://pcpartpicker.com/ for everybodones sake!

and quote me if you want me to see a reply please :)

Indeed we want to be polite to the others :D

Anyways I believe I will be going for the evga gtx 970 ftw version or if the classified comes out and the price difference is absurd, then I'll probably go for that.

As for watercooling, I know the 240 is not even close to being enough for the cpu and gpu, I would get another 240 and a 360 when the time comes. Thank you, that really helped me with my confusion. I may wait just long enough to see what AMD brings, I wont buy them cuz I want to try nvidia for a change but in hope that the new card family from amd will lower the 970, even a little. I know that this is a bit far fetch but one can always hope.

Yea, I watched the review that Linus made for the Zotac, personally not a huge fan of zotac, just don't have experience with the brand and didn't like the look of them. They could be good but don't feel comfortable with purchasing them this time round.
