It's not worth the extra money for the 7970.

Get the 7950.

7950 is a BEAST overclocker!
XFX makes one of the sexiest 7950s I've ever seen but unfortunately according to a lot of people it's quite loud! :(

Get the 7950, great overclocker @ a great price.

My 7950 is running at 1020MHz(Pretty bad chip i think) core clock and 1575MHz memory clock without any voltage tweaking, pretty sure you can achieve beastly freqs in excess of 1100MHz if you're willing to up the volts

I would go with something like a MSI Twin Frozr 3 7950 or a HIS IceQ X2 7950 because these cards can be overclocked to beat the reference 7970 and you can save some money.

I can get the XFX 7950 Black edition for £211 so thats a good option and the sapphire vapour x 7950 for £250.....what to get ?

if your xfx card have just one dvi port and 6+6 pcie pins, take it, it's the unlocked voltage version, if not... take the vapor X or the Dual X from sapphire

I7 4770K - @4.5Ghz  |  Be quiet Dark Rock Pro 3  | Asus Maximus VII Ranger Z97  | Kingston Genesis 8GB | Be quiet Power Zone 750w   | Sapphire R9 Fury X |  Sandisk SSD 120Go + WD Green 1TB 7200 rpm | Nzxt Phantom 410

The 7950 is slower than the 7970, but if you get a good GPU & you overclock the 7950, it will reach the performance of a stock 7970. But the 7970 can be overclocked as well.

If you want the best bang for buck, get the 7950.

The Sapphire 7950 has a good cooler. Bur the PCB color annoys me.

I would go with the Dual X instead of the Vapor X card because people reported that this card that this had high VRM temps so I would stay away from this card because you won't be able to overclock it because of this.
