No... A Pentium G3258 would be much better.

I'll take the athlon over the g3258 because it's a quad core. I'm not only using my pc as a gaming pc and a quad core is good at multitasking. I only have a G3258 as my CPU in my rig right now because I'm waiting for Broadwell and I can wait for it. :)

Thats only if you OC the hell out of it.

Then do so...

I've heard many success stories on the G3258.

You can always bullshit that there is a problem with the CPU and return/RMA it.

(Or buy multiple, pick the best one, and return the rest)*

*If you live in the U.S.A. I mean. Returns accepted no questions asked.

In his budget, its better to get a higher end CPU then this an a good cooler, IMO.

Don't think so, since many games today are more GPU dependent.

As you see in Austin's video, the G3258 was hardly a bottleneck.

He got a good chip and OC'ed to 4.7. If cheating retailers is the way to go for you to win the silicon lotery, then by all means. But out of the box, I think the 860k is a better chip for the money.

I'm not sure if those mushroom sticks of RAM will work. They might be too soft to slot into place. :P:D JK

I'll personally take stronger single core performance over more cores and a hefty power consumption but it seems like this issue is debatable. :)
