Why can's this happen?

Tie Lightning

Hey guys, so I've been looking to buy some bookshelf speakers and a sub. I will have to get a receiver to power them but then i got thinking... Since some of us have a higher wattage PSU than we need, why cant there be a soundcard that allows you to use speaker wire instead of 3.5mm jacks? If there is i have never seen any before:( Thanks

Speaker wire? As in 1/4" cables, Mini-XLR, what?

Because the amp would take up at least four expansion slots and put more heat into the case and would be pretty useless to 99.99% of people.

I dont think you could fit a 200W amplifier on a sound card...which is why receivers are as big as a small PC.

Sort of off topic, but as you are in the market for such things....

If space is at a premium, this is a nice little setup...
