518 will pull ahead in gaming due to it being open, that's my recommendation, IMO it's a better all around headphone as well.

I've tried the 518 It's really comfortable and It doesn't hurt your ears even of your using it whole day. as for the m50's I think it has the better sound (I've also tried it)

The HD 518 has a larger sound stage which is good for gaming but they kinda lack in bass and are open if that doesn't bother you, if your looking for some bass and a lot of sound isolation then go for the M50. I personally own the HD 518 and I love them, they're super comfortable, the sound stage is pretty good especially for the price of $80 on Amazon, and sound great for all gene's (I listen to a lot of metal) but can lack bass at times.

For gaming, the 518s have the advantage of being open, so it creates a larger sound stage, giving you a better idea of where the noise came from. However, you won't hear much (if anything) if using them in public or noisy places. They have a removeable cable though, the m50s don't. The m50s will have a stronger bass though.

Up to you to decide which features you'll prefer.
