Hey,

I'm getting a proper mechanical keyboard for my birthday (probably a k60, but I haven't tried out the key-switches yet) and whilst I can't afford a decent mouse at the same time, I thought a decent mouse mat would do well to tide me over.

Does anybody have a recommendation? I'm not looking to spend over £20 really. I was considering the Corsair MM200, but the sizes are a bit odd. The XL size is the width of a keyboard, and I can't think how that would be useful  :P

EDIT: This is the product list for the shop I'm buying the keyboard from, picking from that list would be ideal.

I don't mind whether it's a hard or soft mouse pad, so long as my shamefully cheap mouse will work on it.

Thanks,

Jack

A good cheap option is the SteelSeries QCK.  Its a good size and has a great feel and great tracking on it.

My recommendation would be to get one of those cheap 1$ generic mousepads with the gel wrist rest and replace them every 6 months if you are a high dpi gamer on a budget. With that said I would rather get a cheap mousepad and a better mouse like a G400. Personally for me the mousepad honestly didn't make much of a difference to me when I upgraded about two months later to a Razer Goliathus from those cheap ones.

i disagree, a  good mouse pad is a personal preference, either preferring a cloth, plastic, or metal mat.  All of them are different because people prefer different feel of moving or the different mousing responsiveness.

For me a mouse will significantly improve the gameplay experience than compared to the surface it tracks on. I guess its just me personal preference though :)
