I am building a new computer because the one I am using right now is a computer I bought from Dell a while ago and I want to build a new system to be used mainly for gaming. I don't play very high performance games now, but I would like to be able to run them pretty reasonably,

I already have a 1080p monitor and I plan to possibly run one more at some point. I also already have a 2TB hard drive. I live in California and my budget is somewhere around 1000 USD. I am willing to go a little higher if needed.

I have a keyboard and mouse picked out already and I am not counting them in the budget. I will be needing a copy of Windows as well.

This is some stuff that my friend and I have been looking at. Please give feedback.

Thanks.  :)

Well, i would change the following things:

-NHD14 to something like a H80i because the air cooler may be too big for your case.

-Samsung RAM to something like Corsair Vengeance (low profile if you want)

-Samsung 830 to 840/840pro

You could maybe even change to newer Haswell CPU/mobo but the one you have is perfectly fine but really power hungry.

Gaming HTPC:

1- it will fit inside the case , closed loops are bad.

2- ram is ram...

3- ssd speed difference isn't noticeable except in benchmarks.

@op change the cpu to a fx 8320 instead unless the price difference is 10$. the difference is a .2ghz factory overclock.

-oh please, tell me more about how bad closed loop coolers are. Bullshit.

-ram is ram is true but i prefer high quality ram from a well known company.

-840pro is newer, better technology and has a better availability (at least in my country)

1-

, closed loops are soo good.

2- what's "higher quality" ?, you're making yourself look like a moron , since you admitted ram is ram. just admit you're a ignorant fanboy.

3- explain why it's better? that's what i thought , you don't know how to explain yourself.

-Weird, that pretty much every test shows better or equal performance for the h80i vs nhd14. Oh yeah and spot the line where i called closed loops "soo good". They are obviously not as good as custom loops.

-I am a fanboy because i like corsair, g.skill, kinston etc. Ram. K.

-buy whatever ssd you want. 840 will get slightly better performance but in generell they are both excellent ssds.

-pi in your signature is wrong.

-Wheres the problem in googling "h80i vs Nh-D14"?

But because im a very nice guy: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2013/03/12/phanteks-ph-tc12dx-review/2

-Yes, but i still think other ram has more oc headroom. (If he wants to oc)

-we are done with ssds

-you still didnt correct it. But it only took me 3sec of reading your signature to find out.

840Pro>830>840

Don't see anything wrong with this build very good price/performance build. 7950 is probably my favorite card of this gen.

I was looking into the 840 Pro and I was thinking that I might just go for it. I think I will just buy that last and decide then. Thanks for your feedback!

Go for the 840 (Non-pro). I don't think you'll mind the 8gig difference since the 840 is $15-25 cheaper than the 830.
