Today I went to sim lim (singapore)to pick up a refrence version of GTX 970 from gigabyte, the shop owner said  that the gigabyte  supplier says the refrence version will not be supplied anymore only windforce and G1.

Come on gigabyte  please...

zotac's refrence look like shit, the others don't even sell the refrence only gigabyte supplied the refrence now you even take that away now there's no good looking refrence cards :(

Possibly the G1 is more popular than the reference model.

but there's no other that sell the refrence model and the only other way to get rfrence is to get a GTX 980

and a refrence 970 is alot cheaper compared to a G1

The Windforce is a downclocked G1.

there were in sim lim when 970 was released the shop recived 12  pairs of refrence GTX 970

There are no reference GTX 970's, only reference PCB.  970 was a virtual launch and never had any physical reference cards.  Anyone who is releasing a reference 970 is doing it by themselves with no help form Nvidia.  And anyway, reference cards for any model are very limited items, always has been and always will be.

QUOTE ME IN A REPLY SO I CAN SEE THE NOTIFICATION!

When there is no danger of failure there is no pleasure in success.

The GTX 970 reference looked ugly IMO anyway. No sexy triangle vents, no black heatsinks through the window...

You're telling me you wanted this??

So basically your dad has a GTX 970 with a GTX 980 reference cooler on it? Sounds hella fishy to me. :P

Reference PCB cards are more limited because most waterblock manufacturers only make blocks that support the reference design, so they are the cards that water cooling enthusiasts will look for in most cases. Of course there are exceptions, EKWB is a manufacturer for instance that has supported non-reference designs like the ASUS Direct CU II cards.

The titan looking cooler is apparently more expensive to build than a custom cooler so I can see why they don't sell them. I've seen a few here and they sell for a huge premium.

And I don't think the titan cooler was reference for the 970.

Here it was a bit of a different story. The g1 was like a 20 euro premium and the titan cooler almost a 100 euro premium.
