ADSL2+ Speeds?

Just a question, is this normal speeds for ADSL2+?

 

 

i am on wireless but wired gets the same for DL.

My speeds are marginally worse than yours, also on ADSL2+

EDIT: Actually very similar, this is a fresh test and actually surprised me as well, I usually get 30+ ping and 0.76 Mb/s upload max.

The bandwidth payed for is 8Mb/s down and 1Mb/s upload.

Hmm, not sure. This is my speed internet ADSL2+ with telstra and i'm very close to telstra station

 

 

Really depends how good your phone lines are and they do get rusty overtime, i guess its best to call your IPS and they will sort it out.

 

Edit: If your ISP says "uhh, well that how we normally get in our area, nothing we can do about it", thats your normal speed in your area.

This is mine which isnt that great and the exchange is literally right behind me when i was at my old house in qld was getting 20 - 21mbs lucky nbn guys laid fiber in me street a couple weeks ago so ill be getting proper nbn.

 

 

your speed isnt adsl2 speeds thats adsl 1 so either your super far from the exchange, its super congested there, your copper quality is shit or they havnt put u on adsl 2 which has happen to me before so you should ring up and see or if u can find in your router which u use to be able to but i cant atm by seeing which one of these u have

 

G992.1 - ADSL Max 'Up to 8mb'

G992.3 - ADSL2 'Up to 12mb'

G992.5 - ADSL2+ 'Up to 20mb'

 

if you figure out what u are on or even if u are on adsl2+ and getting crappy speeds u should just downgrade to adsl1 it wont be any slower.

 

Edit: actually judging from your upload u might actually be on adsl2 + i dont think adsl 1 is that "fast"

Most Aussies fall into the default 'up to 12Mb/s' is standard fare for most houses.

Most people don't live that close to the exchange and will not get what they were expecting.

 

650Kb/s isn't that slow however, and should be good for constant 720p streaming/buffered 1080p content.

Yes, is the distance that plays the role on the DSL, The same thing with me, my friend has real 3.2MegabYtes down 0.100up and me 1.2MegabYtes, 0.100up I live 2-3 km away from him.

Yer Australia and NZ have horrible internet speeds. Most ISP in Australia won't do anything unless you cannot get an ADSL connection or maintain a stable connection, at least you can get a port in your area. I know several areas in and around Brisbane that cannot get a port as there is no ports left.

3.8Mbps ain't too horrible. Probably better than 30% of the country. Call your ISP and ask if there's any alternative to ADSL at your address.

If you can get VDSL instead of ADSL, jump all over it. You get 10 times the upload speed, and the network is fed by Fiber on the backhaul instead of ATM (which affects small packets like gaming and VoIP negatively)
