I'm really interested in doing a custom loop, but I'm pretty new in the PC building community.

I have a CoolerMaster Haf X case right now with a titan, 3930k + h100i, but i'm looking at upgrading to 2 780's.  After I get them I really wanna start planning a fully watercooled system.

Without modding I can stick a 360mm in the top I believe, but I'm thinking of modding the top to fit a 420mm, and then removing my HDD cages and hot swap bays, and putting maybe a 240, or a 360mm if it'll fit.

I can buy adapters to stick my hdd and ssd in my drive bays, so that's not an issue with relocating those.

Is there any way I can monitor fan speeds and things once it's done? Custom fan curves etc? I LOVE corsair link 2 software, I was wondering if there is any other software I could use to control my fans once I do all this work.  Or I can get a fan controller I guess, although I really enjoy the software lol.

If 420mm and a 360mm is overkill, well that's alright because I'd really like to get as much performance while still maintaining a good look inside the case.

Has anyone seen haf x clear windowed side panels with no fan on it? I saw one but I can't find the site for the life of me. If anyone knows about that I'd like to get one after the build is done to really show it off.

Also I saw linus had a T-virus res in his build awhile back, are those good reservoirs? If anyone has some parts/links that they'd recommend it'd help A LOT.

I think I have my eyes on a few rads, but I need idea's on CPU blocks and GPU blocks too. If anyone has recommendations that'd be great!

Well, you will be able to fit a 360mm rad in the front, but you will only be able to populate one 5.25 inch drive bay. I have tried to mod to see if a 480mm rad would fit in the top, but couldn't make it fit, but if you want to try then give it a go. As for a CPU block I use a Swiftech Apogee II and it works great, and i have also heard good things about the stuff from XSPC.

As for the custom fan curves: What motherboard are you using? All the Asus X79 motherboards allows you to control your fans with AI Suite.

I can't send any pictures at the moment since i am on a motorcycle vacation in the mediterranean, so I will not be home in 3 weeks. But to fit the front rad you basiclly have to remove the hardrive cages, and if it is a thick rad with push-pull you have to remove the backplate for the two hotswaps. You can find similar pictures to what I did on the internet, since i was also inspired by other modders who have done the same thing

The Rampage IV Extreme is able to controle fans from AI Suite, but i can't remember if it has to be a 4-pin fan.

Sent from café in beautiful Barcelona.

Yeah they have to be four pin, I already tried changing my front fan and side, but they're 3 pin and it doesn't do anythin :C, and also thx, I'll go trolling around and see if I can find some things.

My Asus board can control 3- and 4-pin fans via the headers. Obviously the start voltage of those PWM fans is lower but you can create fan curves for voltage control for 3 pin fans.

Also, I recently asked Asus for this:

An ASUS motherboard can maximum provide totally 2~4 Amps on all-on board Fan power connectors which means it provide up to 24~48W total capability.
8Amp is a safety-shutdown limit.

So you can get a Phobya 1-to-3 (they also have 6 and 9) fan splitter for cleaner cable management in the front.

Really? I downloaded an updated version of AI suite for my motherboard, and literally none of the settings worked lol.  I put the fan controllers down as low as they'd go, and none of the fans changed at all :c

Use the "Fan Auto Tuning" once then it should recognize the fans.

Then you should be able to choose between Smart-Mode (or something like that) and RPM Fixed-Mode. Take Smart-Mode and drag the anchor points as you wish (remember: the temperature from the CPU is a little different than the one from RealTemp or something like that). Then try to hit apply first and then safe.

thats for fan xpert 2 I think. and rampage iv extreme only has fan xpert 1 I believe.

Oh, didn't know that :( But yeah, I was talking about xpert 2 (p8z77-v pro)

If I do use the mobo to control all the fans, I'm going to be using noctua's anyways and they're 4 pin so it shouldn't be an issue.

Wouldn't just cost about the same just to buy a new titan to SLI with? If you do that you wouldn't have a random titan sitting around.

sold it on ebay, waiting for paypal to tell me to send it :o

There is no such thing as overkill when you watercool! You might not be getting the most bang for your buck, but it is generally not a bad idea to have more rad space for future upgrades (watercooling motherboard or ram).

as for the T-Virus Res, from what I heard, the tube res was pretty bad quality, and alot of people were having the problem with the tube (not the swirly part) was building up condensation (i think thats what it was..) and not looking as good as what you see in pictures or when you first install it. I would personally stay away from it and get a more normal tube res from EK or Bitspower, but thats just my 2 cents
