Hello everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade my 'your freedom' VPN to get a faster connection. But when you pay $20/month (which is quite a lot) you get 5 server ports. What exactly are these?

Thanks in advance.

I think that they're the number of IP addresses you can get with the VPN service, but I'm not 100% on this

I think so...

Don't quote me on this, though, drop an email to the service provider and see what they say about it

I've never used their service, but ports are a standard part of computer networking. If you have any kind of web service, it runs on a specific port (kind of like knowing which apartment (port) to go to at what address (IP)). Websites run on port 80, 443, FTP runs on 21, SSH on 22, etc, these are the specific address that you need to contact on to get to the right service.

If they were to give you 5 ports, I assume that means that they're willing to forward 5 ports so that you can run something off your local network and still be able to access it thru the VPN (web server, game server etc).

All right, thanks!
