Is the r9 a rebadged 7870? I cant seem to remember which cards were a rebadge moving from 7000 series to r9

Yes. the R9 270 is a rebadged 7870, the R9 270X is a rebadged 7870 GHz Edition. And the R7 265 is a rebadged 7850.

But still, the R9 270 is a much newer card that supports more features with a longer support duration.

I'll try to get the 270 if possible.

the 265 is on an ew architecture though right hawaii

No, the 265 is a partially disabled Pitcairn silicon. (7850) The R7 260X is a new architecture (Bonaire). The Hawaii codename is for the 290's.

Nope. It's the same Silicon as the 7850 (Pitcairn XT), the 270 and 270X use the Pitcairn PRO.

Yes, The R7 260. R7 260X, R9 285, R9 290, and R9 290X (Also including R9 295X2) were the only new cards introduced in the R9 200 series. The 270's and 280's were rebranded 7800 and 7900 series cards respectively.

Reason im asking is a found a PC on gumtree for $430. i5 3470, 8gb ram, 120gb ssd, 7870. Was putting into perspective haha
