Is this fine: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LNg3sY    ?

Is it fairly future proof?

Are there any unnecessary costs involved?

What changes could I make to improve it without too much extra cost?

1. Link doesn't work.

2. There is no such thing as future proof.

--Edit--

Saw the new link, that build is not really even that up to speed as is, you should be able to run current games on decent settings at 1080p with decent framerates, but don't expect it to last for years.

I'd suggest getting an i5 4690K instead, and perhaps a GTX 970 too.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Storage is needed.

Better performing 2x4GB DDR3-1600 CAS  9 memory kits are available for less than the DDR3-1333 listed.

The Pentium G3258 needs to be overclocked in order to be of any real use. That requires the addition of an aftermarket cooler.

A CX-430M psu is sufficient.

Without knowing how the system will be used further comment is not possible.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
