What RAM to chose

I'm building new PC and will be using ARIVBE,4930k.I decided to use Corsair dominator platinum 16GB Kit at 1866mhz. Now im not sure

should i get 16GB Kit (4 x 4GB) or 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB). I read somewhere that is recomended to use 4 sticks on lga 2011 for extra mem bandwith. Thou if i use 2x8gm i can just get another kit if i decide to go for 32gm of ram.

You will probably have your reason to go for those over priced Corsairs dominators?.

 

But anyway, it depends allot on your ussage realy.

For gaming it doesnt make much sense if you grab a 4x4 kit or a 2x8 kit.

However, if you do video rendering then you will offcourse be benefitting from quadchannel memory. 4x4GB.

 

So yeah..

 

For gaming: it doesnt matter.

For rendering: grab a quad kit.

As you're on the on the enthusiast platform, you are probably editing videos or doing 3D rendering. So yeah, get 4x4 as it's twice as fast as 2x8.

Yes i will primary do 3D rendering and ofcorse in free time play games.

These corsair kits are stupid expensive. I would get Hyperx FURY (really love the heatsinks on those), or crucial ballistix sport.

My mbo have x79 chipset, I might be wrong but  acordint to Hyperx page their ram isn't compatibile with this chipset.

If you're using corsair dominators I would assume you care about the looks of your build so from an ascetic point of view go with 4 sticks, if you don't care about looks buy something cheaper and only get 2 sticks, the performance difference between 2 and 4 sticks is minimal

Corsair dominator platinums are way too expensive. I feel like Crucial Tactical tracer wins in aesthetics.
