Posted October 8, 2014 I'm curious, my friends computer has a virus and I was wondering of I can just replace a single component and solve the problem? Is there one single component affected? Or is the whole computer a goner?
Posted October 8, 2014 A virus could get into your motherboard BIOS and mess with it. But most likely if there was a virus, then it would be the hard drive.
Posted October 8, 2014 It's most likely the HHD/SSD/SSHD Because he had a hard drive.

Posted October 8, 2014 You probably don't need to replace anything. Try reinstalling the OS. That should do the trick. i5 4670k (can OC to 4.4Ghz) - Hyper 212 evo w/ AC MX2 - XFX Radeon R9 280X - 8GB ADATA XPG V2 DDR3-1600 - MSI Z87 G41 - Corsair CX600M 600W PSU - 1TB HDD - 120GB SSD
 Posted October 8, 2014 Always try antivirus and malware removal software first. Don't just go replacing hardware and hoping it will go away. And obviously, if you remove storage you won't be able to access it or boot to your operating system (if you remove the drive it is installed on). Haha. Posted October 8, 2014 Viruses are software not hardware. If removal fails, you can always just re-install windows.
