Any similar MOBO?

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

It's because i'm following linus's 1500$ pc guide, and i'm a noob at building pc's, so i'm just sticking with what he says, excluding the graphics card.

Please don't do that....Theres no reason to strictly follow a months old video.

Whats the purpose/location/budget and do you need any peripherals/monitors?

If you also intend to do some editing/rendering then get a 4790k instead.

When I'm building, would it be similar (putting parts together, etc..) with any other tutorial? Again, I'm a noob at building PC's and I really have no idea what I would be doing without any kind of tutorial.

other than a motherboard header being an inch to the left...or an inch to the right or a slightly different layout of a case, then it would be pretty much identical.

Building a computer is really easy, put stuff where it fits and 9 times out of 10, thats where it belongs.

Could I use the H100i instead? Or would it be a problem with the CPU?

The H100i has mounting issues, but the Seidon 240m performs virtually the same as the H100i, except the Seidon 240m's pump is quieter. So considering how much cheaper the Seidon 240m is, its kind of a no brainer.

Is there a reason you don't want the Seidon 240m? Anyway, I'd get an H105 over an H100i.

Changed mobo to a better and more reliable one, changed PSU to more reliable one, and removed windows 8.1 because you can get it fom G2A for ~20$.

Whoops meant to suggest the EVGA G2 psu. As for the motherboard, the gaming 5 isn't exactly "more reliable" than the Z97s SLI plus. The main differences are aesthetics/layout and the gaming 5 has "better" audio.

Also, 1tb is more than sufficient for 99% of gamers, and I'd much rather have an ssd + a 1tb drive than a 2tb one. I have like 300 games on Steam (including most AAA titles as well as the non-Steam AAA titles) and I'm still under 1tb. Not to mention a Black really isn't worth the extra money, especially when compared to a blue+ssd combo.

Wait, don't I need a few fans or something?

Well, yes/no. The Enthoo Pro comes with a 120mm exhaust a 200mm intake, and the Seidon240m comes with two fans. So, other than upgrading to better (more airflow/higher static pressure/quieter) fans you shouldn't find yourself needing anymore.

One last question, what thermal compound should I use? Because I read up on it, and it says I need thermal compound for liquid cooling, are there any "good" ones you can suggest?

Well, I'm still using the thermal compound that comes with the Seidon 240m. so....

I usually go for the Noctua Thermal Compound.

Also, since you aren't using an SSD, change the HDD to a hybrid drive.

The cooler will have thermal paste either pre-applied or a separate tube/sachet. You don't really need to buy any extra paste.
