21:9 1080p vs 16:9 1440p

Go to solution Solved by SeanBond,

21:9 is an experience changer. 1440p just makes things sharper. I don't think I will ever go back to 16:9. May I ask how close to your monitor? If you sit close you can get away with a slightly smaller ultrawide for damn near nothing.

I will use this monitor for productivity and homework im a software engineering student and i just want a bigger resolution monitor my current one is 1680x1050 i dont know what is the best option get a 16:9 1440p single monitor or maybe two 1080p 16:9 or a single 21:9 1080p (2560x1080) i do play games sometimes

price difference between a 2560x1440p vs a 2560X1080p is a lot.

For productivity I would say best is one 1440 and  one 1080, but short of that, two 1080.

Depends on your budget, without SLI 970 or any equiv's I'd go for the 2560x1080 instead of the 3440x1440 panel.

ok im sorry the 1440 im thinking about the 16:9 version

Best is 1440p, even with a single 780Ti, it's enough for gaming. For work, it's great; lots of space. For movies, it's awesome.

I like the 1440p 16:9 option.  the extra vertical space and pixel density makes productivity easier in my eyes.

Really? so do you think that for the price of a 16:9 1440p vs a 21:9 1080p that the extra vertical space is worth it?

I would say that if you sit within 2-3 of your monitor the smaller 25inch lg25um64s is perfectly fine in size. If you sit closer to 4 feet and beyond the lg29um65 is much better. As of right now best buy is selling the lg25um64s on sale. It's the same panel as the bigger brother and it's a lovely screen nice pixel density because it is a smaller screen.

at $250 it's a steal. I bought the 29" but felt it was too big for where I sit and I am very happy I returned it for the 25" model. The gaming experience is so much better than just higher resolution. As far as productivity you can have to windows side by side and still have enough room to see what's going on.

If you're going 21:9 I'd go the 3440x1440 one.

And I'd prefer to get a 16:9 1440p monitor over a 2560x1080, because it's cheaper and you'll have room for another 1.

I don't know the difference between the 2 monitors, specs seem to be the same but I suggest best buy because if it's not something you really like you can always just return it. Hell even if you do like it you could return it and try the 25um55p

I was talking of the 16:9 1440 monitor, but I see you have made your decision already.

I can't say I have used a 21:9 but I can say I love my 27" 1440p monitor.
