So im looking to upgrade my cpu to an i5. And I dont know whether to get the 4670k or 4690k.... I found two mobo combos and the 4670k is cheaper but its using a z87 mobo yet the 4690k has a z97 mobo but its more expensive. I need to know if the performance difference is worth the cost.

4690k performs better and has a bunch of newer features and like sata express, newer drivers, and a bunch of other features from the motherboard manufacturer.

the 4670k comes with a microATX board and an older chipset.

The 4690K has an ATX board with a new chipset.

The 4690K overclocks better than the 4670k.

You choose.

It's clocked slightly higher out of the box, and it has better TIM (Thermal Interface Material), which is basically thermal paste under the IHS (Integrated Heat Spreader; metal bit), so this translates in lower temps, I don't know however how much the temps are dropped.
