Lag spikes and sound cracking after idling

Hello guys!

 

I've had this problem for months, and it's extremely annoying.

Basically, I would play a game, then watch some videos on youtube, general stuff, and after like an hour of half an hour, if I would open a game, I would get these lag spikes or some kind of stuttering, like every 2-3 seconds I'd get a small lag spike, and the sound would be cracking. The only way to fix this, from what I've tried, is restarting the PC.

I would also get the sound cracking when just watching videos on youtube...

 

What could it be? Thank you!

 

Edit: It might also be related to my headset. They started having problems where the sound would be gone and I would have to unplug and replug the cable, some noise in the background, etc.
