I know the comparison might sound weird, but after seeing the benchmarks in linus' video i thought "wow, the 7950 gives you a really great value", but the benchmark was a stock unit and not an asus direct CU II or EVGA.

Now i want to know your optinion, because i am really struggeling and i am thinking about this for days now <.<.

Currently i am running a 2600 gt (lol) on a 1280*1024 monitor. I know it sounds weird, but my gaming notebook crashed and now i had to get my old tower and the last parts that i didnt update yet are the GPU and the Monitor. So i am planning to buy a 1440p display and a suitable GPU that will last me 2-3 years until i sell the pc again (probably).

So what are your thoughts? I have heard that the 7970 is pretty loud and i am really not a fan ;-) of loud hardware.

770 4gb and let it clock itself like crazy :) the 7950 does present better value but long term your going to want the best of the best!

No justification, just buy the most expensive card you can, and I 100% guarantee that that'll be the card that'll last the longest.

If you're gaming at 1080p get the 7950.

If you're going over that 780.

770, like the 680 is a bit of a pointless card because there is nothing it can do that the card down from it won't (IE 670 and the forthcoming 760ti)

I would go 780 or 7950 , if you wanna make the commitment to 1080p + gaming. Its higher quality and will keep you at very playable frame rates for years to come :) and its beautiful. Although, if you're not willing to go that high cash wise, just go for a 7950. They are a good card but at 1080p

Do you have any idea when the 4gb is going to be released?

I know that the most expesive card will last me the longest, but its Value will also decrease the most over the next years

If you get a 7950, get the Gigabyte Windforcex3 version. They tend to be extremely overclockable and the cooler is quiet and efficient.

According to the benchmarks, the 7950 is suitable for 1440p or am i wrong.

It's suitable if you don't want to use any FSAA.
