DirectX 12 Graphics Cards?

So, it seems Windows 10 will come with DirectX 12.
Now I'm not here to talk about that, I just wanted to know if it's safe to believe that "DirectX 11 GPU's will be compatible with DirectX 12".
Or will they have a sever disadvantage to I guess "full" DirectX 12 gpus?
i mean, we're all the way into DirectX 11.3 now

They will not be compatible with DX12 AFAIK, Only the NVIDIA GTX 9XX series so far. And I think 11.3 was a way of getting most of the DX12 features over to DX11 GPUs.

 

I was wrong, compatibility comes for all modern cards from Fermi up.

hehe... but I do think that the Kepler Architecture (starting with the higher end 6xx geforce) and the GCN (starting with higher end 7xxx radeon) will be supported as well, then obviously the newer ones as well. Intel's Haswell graphics (GT3 and GT3e) will be the only Intel integrated ones supported.

I heard that the 700 series and the R9 series GPU's are gonna DX12 support but I'm not sure if thats a 100% valid statement.

Should be compatible all the way back to 400 series Nvidia GPU's.

i think fermi cards above will support dx12 not sure about amd

From what I know, GCN and Kepler GPUs will be supporting DX 12. But fucking AMD doesn't yet support damn mantle on my M-GPU, and if they don't do so this year, I'ma cut a bitch.

If you look at the footnote for API Support [11]

Not to be quoted but I believe I read that while older GPUs will support DX12, they might not be able to utilize all available features offered by the new API and future developments for it.

That's what I thought as well, but seeing as there have been 4 versions of DX11 (DX11, 11.1, 11.2 and now 11.3) I thought maybe Nvidia's GTX 900's series, seeing as 11.3 would probably be DX11's final "version", it would be able to fully support the DX12 API.
